Mary Elizabeth (Bette) Rowe's Obituary
Mary Elizabeth (Bette) Rowe, 94, of East China passed away December 15, 2021 peacefully in her home surrounded by family and her devoted, loving caregivers along with her dedicated granddaughter, Bridgit.
Bette was born December 31, 1926 in Detroit to Joseph and Regina (Heidenreich) Jaminet. She grew up in Detroit and attended St, Ambrose Catholic School. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Sienna Heights College.
On November 21, 1953 Bette married Alfred Rowe. Bette taught Kindergarten in Detroit at Gooddale Elementary for 16 years before moving to East China in 1964. She then spent 27 years teaching Kindergarten in St. Clair for East China Schools. She retired in 1991 and was best remembered as a beloved Kindergarten teacher who put on a “circus” each year with her class.
Bette enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, travel, knitting, reading and singing. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, Inter Faith Choir and the St. Clair Community Singers.
Bette is survived by her children Greg (Christine) Rowe, Lisa (Gerry) Beauvais, Grandchildren Greg, Patty (Eric) McWain, Bridgit Wallington (James), Jared, Elizabeth Beauvais (fiancé Kevin) along with 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred, brother Joseph Jaminet sister and brother in law Joan and Richard Rohr.
A funeral mass will be held Monday December 20th at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, OLR Parish, Marine City. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visiting hours are one hour prior to mass from 10:30 to 11:30 at the church.
