Tomorrow I’ll be saying my final goodbye to my Aunt Mary, my Godmother, my friend.
She was one of a kind and always good for a laugh.
We had a very special bond that will be with me always. I will miss her so much.
Every Wednesday growing up, a bunch of us went to my grandparents house in Harper Woods and had a luncheon. Big family luncheons and great convo/bonding time.
As I got older ( just out of high school), we started hanging out on Tuesday nights. Every Tuesday night, my mom would cook dinner and Aunt Mary, my mom, my sister and I would go to the movies. It didn’t matter what we would see, we always had fun and got to see every movie that was out. I always had to use the restroom
After the movie ended which meant they’d be waiting out of bathroom for me and every time I’d come out, Aunt Mary would say “did it come out ok?” Lol. I would be so embarrassed (Especially when I was still young) but I knew she was joking around. Tuesday nights were always one of my fav nights.
I remember getting my Barbie Ferrari from Aunt Mary and Uncle Bob. Uncle Bob put it together at my bday party so I could play with it right away.
I loved when Aunt Mary used to color with me. She would bring me jumbo oversized coloring books like Scooby Doo. I’d be so excited because I loved coloring too.
I’ll miss her famous Peach Jello. I’m not sure if she ever brought anything else to share at a party, that’s all I can recall. She also had cheese puffs and cheese popcorn all the time. We have similar smack tastes lol.
As she got older, I would take her home Tuesday nights and we bonded in my car with deep conversations. I will cherish them always ❤️.
Aunt Mary would babysit me, my brother and sister when we were little and it was always a blast. We’d color, play games like Monopoly and she’d make us soup. I remember the Tomato soup being too hot so she went and grabbed ice cubes. Lol. We were shocked after she put ice cubes in our soup .... but guess what? It worked lol.
Aunt Mary was super thoughtful and didn’t miss any holiday or reason to spoil me. She was funny and always made everyone feel comfortable. She was a great listener and was always rooting for you no matter what you were doing.
I got to experience many fun things with Aunt Mary... the play “Mama Mia”, the Pat Benatar concert at Pine Knob, tons of movies, shopping at Paula’s market, Sears Surplus, or Eastland Mall in Harper Woods.
I’m happy she is at peace now and is with her soulmate Uncle Bob. She’s my angel that I’ll have looking down on my wedding in April.
I Love you, R.I.P Aunt Mary ❤️
Don and I send our love. She was a very sweet lady and we enjoyed our times with her.
