Mary Jane "Penny" Danneels' Obituary
Mary Jane “Penny” Danneels, age 78, of St. Clair, passed away February 17, 2024. She was born July 30, 1945 in St. Clair to the late William and Grace Nichols.
Penny found love in the simplest pleasures. She loved working in her yard and planting flowers. She always enjoyed going out for breakfast and then venturing out for some shopping. These were the little things she enjoyed.
Penny worked at Kids’ Connection for a number of years and enjoyed the people she worked with and the children she cared for. Many times while she was out doing errands or having breakfast a child would walk up to her and say “Hi Miss Penny”. She loved that so much. Many times it was a child she had tended to in the past that had remembered her.
Above all, Penny cherished her family. She loved her children and grandchildren, but it was her great grandson, Kinsler, that stole her heart. He always put a smile on her face. She would always say he was an “old soul”. She loved the moments spent together as a family, especially when everyone came over to watch the Lions games on Sundays.
Penny’s kindness and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know and love her.
Mary Jane is survived by her children, Debra (Bryan) Valla and Steven Danneels; grandsons, Ryan Valla and Kyle (Amy) Valla; great grandson, Kinsler Valla; brother, William (Sandy) Nichols; sister, Pamela Robbins; sister in law, Joyce Nichols and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Robert Danneels; brother, Richard “Rick” Nichols and former husband, Ronald Danneels.
Funeral service will be Friday, February 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visiting hours are Thursday 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home.
