Mary touched the hearts of everyone who came to know her. Her beautiful spirit immediately embraced you. She enjoyed growing up on a dairy farm in Chesterfield, the same farmhouse her father was born and raised in. She attended grade school in a one room schoolhouse that she walked to and home from every day. Mary graduated St. Mary’s high school in Mt. Clemens in 1945 with a group of close-knit friends that remained friends throughout their lives. She went on to work as a legal secretary for a firm in Mt. Clemens.
She married Robert Mullen Jr. in 1951. In these early years they enjoyed traveling especially to the Smokey mountains and the Florida Keys. They had a family and Mary was so grateful to have the children she had always wanted. When Bob passed away 1964, their two young children were ages 3 & 4. Her courage and love for her children got her through that difficult time.
In 1968 she married Ernst A Braun with three young sons. Together they lovingly created one family. They shared the joy of going to dances and danced to polka and ballroom music. In later years they Enjoyed going to the country music venues, including the Grand Ole Opry.
They celebrated 50 years of marriage and enjoyed their many travels in their RV across country to Arizona and California to visit her niece and family. Mary was very devoted to her family and loved her grandchildren dearly. She was grateful to spend time with some of her great- grandchildren getting to know them. She spent a lot of time gardening vegetable gardens, lots of flowers and canning a lot of the harvest. With all she endured and overcame after her stroke eight years ago that left her unable to walk, she kept a loving heart and her beautiful smile and her sense of humor. She was always so grateful to everyone for everything.
