Martin J. Ryan Jr.'s Obituary
Martin J. Ryan Jr., a devoted husband and father of five, passed away peacefully at home on August 28, 2024. He was 79 years of age and a longtime resident of Emmett. Marty was born January 1, 1945 in Port Huron to the late Martin and Rita Ryan.
On April 7, 1967 Marty married Karen Chrivia. She preceded him in death in 2016. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. Marty was an Iron Worker for over 30 years with Local #25. He was also a cherished member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Emmett.
Marty was an amazing woodworker and loved to create metal art. He loved fishing and hunting and also enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl (Richard) King, Kathleen (Brian) Moore, Martin Ryan and Michael (Angie Seltzer) Ryan; grandchildren, Amanda Dickens, Justin Paille, Marissa Strachan, Lindsay (Bobby) Lane, Kyle King, Kayla Brown, Ryan Osterland, Brianna Ryan, Kayliegh Ryan and Jacob Ryan; eight great grandchildren and sisters, Barbara Thibodeau and Janet Ryan.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Carman Marie Osterland, an infant son and brother, Gary Douglas Ryan
Thank you for all of the prayers and continued support throughout this journey. Dad was so proud to have such a strong connection to a community that never left his side. He was a blessed man to have a Village that always uplifted him in prayer and looked after him by dropping off a meal or just popping in to say hi. We will forever be grateful.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday September 5, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Emmett, Michigan. With visitation on Wednesday September 4, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. additional visitation will be on Thursday at church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
