Mrs. Marie Workman-Love's Obituary
Marie Louise Workman-Love, of Marine City, Michigan died Saturday, January 5, 2013 in Karmano’s Cancer Center after a short fight against lung cancer.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, December 27, 1946, to Mary and Pete Chiti, Marie was an outstanding community leader and teacher for over 35 years; she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and achieved her teaching certificate in 1971 from Michigan State University. As a certified Catechist and coordinator of the summer enrichment program for Marine City High, Marie loved to work with kids and see them learn and grow.
Marie touched hundreds of student’s lives over her years at Holy Cross as an elementary and middle school teacher. She relished in the fact that grand kids of her first students became her students as a result. She retired in 2011.
Marie is survived by her husband, Gary Love, her two sons Peter Workman and Timothy Love; grand children Ryan, Jacob and Natalie Workman, cousins Madeline, Ron and Chris McInnis as well as numerous friends and extended family.
The visitation service will be held at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. on Thursday, January 10 from 6-8pm and Friday, January 11 from 4-8pm. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am, January 12, 2013 at Our Lady on the River Parish, Holy Cross Church in Marine City. In Marie’s memory floral tributes will be accepted.
