Marie Julia Babel's Obituary
Marie Julia Babel, age 93, of Cottrellville Twp., peacefully went to be with the Lord on March 5th 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born on March 5, 1932 in her Plank Road house to the late Adolph and Mary Achatz. Marie married Arthur Matthew Babel on December 2, 1950 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City. Arthur preceded her in death on April 13, 1992. Later in life, Marie married Paul Leonard Bettinger on March 4, 2000, who preceded her in death on January 20, 2014. Marie was very adamant about living a healthy life. She researched organic ways of living and made sure to eat foods high in nutrients, most of which she grew in her garden that she loved to tend to. This passion led her to earning her certificate to become a certified foot reflexologist. Which was something she took great pride in. She was a lifelong devoted Catholic who also enjoyed her time sewing and quilting. However, family and friends were everything to her, and she treasured her time with them. She truly cherished when her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren would come over and visit.
She is survived by her children, Arthur J. Babel, Sharon M. (Louis) Stoffel, Charlene M. (Bill) Richardson; grandchildren, Eric Babel, Heidi (Ronnie) Tenyer, Stephanie Sadlowski, Melissa (Vince) Collins, Naomi Babel, Caroline (Jim) Martin, Arthur (Gabby) Richardson, Kateri Richardson ; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Luke, Ava, Bella, Kane, Logan, Lilyana, August, Henrik, Vivian, Aiden, Emery, Connor, Weston, Kendall, Brody, Ezra, as well as many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her 5 older brothers.
A funeral mass will be on Monday, March 10th at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, March 9th from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. as well as one hour prior to mass. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
