Margery A. Osterland's Obituary
Margery A. Osterland, age 78, of Marine City, went to be with the Lord with family by her side on October 6, 2024. She was born on May 1, 1946 to the late Charles and Betty Markel. Margie was a graduate of Holy Cross Catholic School class of 1964. Following her schooling, she went on to work as an LPN for over 30 years. During those 30 years she was proud to work in the OR for River District Hospital, East China and St. Joseph’s Mercy in Mount Clemens. She was a longtime, active member at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City, being apart of the Daughters of Isabella. In her spare time, Margie enjoyed sewing and quilting various items for her family and friends. She would make stockings, tree skirts, baby blankets, just to name a few. Margie was an avid bingo player, who played bingo wherever she went, with family and friends. In her earlier years, she spent a lot of time bowling. Her tradition of making her famous Christmas cookies was something she took great pride in. Above all, Margie cherished the time she spent with her, children, grandchildren, great granddaughter, as well as her visits with her several dear friends.
She is survived by her children, Brenda Osterland, Carolyn (James) Dupuie, Michelle (Jeffery) Cox; grandchildren, Bryce (Kristin) Gordon, Jenna (Jack) Gordon, J.J. (Micah) Dupuie, Troy (Sydney) Cox, Alexis (Jake) Cox; great granddaughter, Norah Jean Dupuie; brother, Charles (Sandi) Markel Jr.; sister-in-law, Darlene Markel, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her siblings, Charlotte Markel, Joseph Markel, Gerald Markel, and Dale Markel.
A funeral mass will be on Wednesday, October 9th at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, October 8th from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp, as well as 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. at church prior to mass. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Village of East Harbor, New Baltimore or Henry Ford Hospice.
