Margaret C. Jones' Obituary
Margaret C. Jones, age 93 of Marine City, was called home to her Lord and Savior on January 28, 2010. She was born November 22, 1916 in Eccles, West Virginia to the late John and Mary Cullen.
Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed and took pride in being a homemaker. She was well known for her cooking; especially her butterscotch and lemon meringue pie. A loyal Notre Dame Football fan, Margaret and her late husband Walter, went 26 consecutive seasons without missing a home game. Her cooking talents continued during tailgating at Notre Dame Stadium; here she fed the fans on game day in South Bend. She was a long-time parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church and was a member of the Daughter’s of Isabella. Margaret also worked for a number of years at Dancers Department Store, which was located in downtown Marine City. She was also very proud of her Scottish heritage. She will be deeply missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her children; Frank (Sally) Jones, Walt (Marion) Jones. She is the loving grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also survived by one sister, Mary Bell Alston and a daughter-in-law, Linda Jones. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Walter. Son, Raymond Jones, and siblings; Bessie Wild, Andrew Cullen, and Baby George Cullen.
Visitation at Young Funeral Home on Sunday from 7-9pm, and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Services will begin at 11:15am at the funeral home and processing to Holy Cross Catholic Church for a 12 noon Mass with Fr. James Lopez and Msgr. George Brown officiating.
