Margaret A. Groves' Obituary
Margaret A. Groves, age 87, of China Twp., passed away October 20, 2023. She was born August 5, 1936 in Detroit to the late Al and Lucy Paret. On November 8, 1958, Margaret married Robert “Bob” Groves. He predeceased her on November 19, 2022.
Margaret worked as a teller with Algonac Savings bank for 15 years. She also enjoyed her time volunteering at River District Hospital, working in the Gift Shop for 20 years. Margaret was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair, where she was a member of the Rosary Makers of St. Mary’s. Thousands of her rosaries were sent to missionaries around the world. Many family and friends benefitted from Margaret’s generosity, as she would crochet afghans and give them away.
Margaret is survived by her children, Donna (Richard) Ransey of Bowling Green, Missouri, Diana (Ray) Dietlin of St. Clair, Michael (Kathy) Groves of Shelby Twp., Christine (Steve) LaHaie of Dearborn Heights, and Rob Groves of China Twp.; grandchildren, Christopher, Selena, Nathaniel, Joe, Lori, Scott, Troy, Kelsey and Bridget; 9 great grandchildren, sister, Jane (Steve) Boscarino; brother, Jim (Linda) Paret and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 64 years Robert “Bob” Groves; twin sister, Mary Lothamer and brother, Bill Paret.
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday November 4th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, St. Clair
Visitation will be Friday November 3rd from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m.
