Margaret M. Dietlin's Obituary
Margaret M. Dietlin, age 92, of Marine City, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024. She was born on May 26, 1931 to the late Aloysius and Katherine (Schweihofer) Umlauf. Margaret graduated from St. David High School and worked in a bank after graduation.
She met her future husband, Vincent Dietlin, on a blind date and they were married on May 30, 1953. He preceded her in death on January 12, 1990. She went from being a “City Girl” to a “Farm Girl”, and said “that if she could , she would go back and do it all over again.”
Margaret enjoyed canning, baking, sewing and crocheting. She also enjoyed playing cards and was a member of a senior euchre club and bowling league. Margaret especially enjoyed playing Toc with her grandchildren.
Margaret is survived by her children, Marie (Jerry) Meldrum, Marian (Ray) Westrick, Anne (Mike) Stuben, Patty Rumbaugh (Brian Wilcox), Jim (Debbie) Dietlin, Jerry (Nicki) Dietlin and Marsha Dietlin; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sylvia Dietlin and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosemary (Bernard) Distelrath, Anne (John) Kronner; brother and sister in law, Gerald (Mary) Umlauf; in-laws, Marvin Dietlin, Betty Dietlin and Alex and Irene Dziedzic; infant sister, Barbara Jean Umlauf and infant brother, Walter Umlauf.
The family also extends their sincerest thanks and appreciation to the staff of The Orchards of Armada facility for their excellent and compassionate care they gave our mother, they loved her dearly.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, May 8th at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, OLR Parish, Marine City. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Marine City.
Visiting hours are Tuesday, May 7th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. with a rosary recital at 7:00 p.m.
