Marcella Markel's Obituary
Marcella Markel, age 83, of Marine City, departed our world on September 8, 2011. She was known by friends and family as Marcy. Marcy is survived by her loving, caring husband of 65 years Norman Markel; her children; Geri Markel, Helen Love, Tom(Cathy) Markel, Nancy ( Dan) Siterlet, Gary (Debbie) Markel, Wendy (Joe) LaFontaine, and Norman Markel Jr. She is also survived by; very special friend Jody Klier, one brother; Roy Hopkins, 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Helen Ulrich.
Marcy was not only a loving, dedicated wife, mother, and friend she loved life itself. Some of her hobbies were; sewing, crafts, gardening, bowling, painting, and watching the Tigers win or lose. Her favorite traveling spots were Hawaii and Georgia. She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City.
She helped make Markel's Recycling of 40 plus years what it is today. She started out driving truck side by side with her husband Norman. We never heard anyone say a bad thing about Marcy. She was loved by all who came in contact with her.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12 at Our Lady on the River Parish, Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m at Young Funeral Home and Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at church prior to mass. A rosary will be said Sunday evening at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. John Hospice
