M. Barbara McCalla's Obituary
M. Barbara McCalla, age 93, of Marine City, died January 28, 2015. She was born August 28, 1921 in Dexter to the late Edward and Doris Merkel. On April 25, 1942 Barbara married Albert McCalla. He preceded her in death on January 30, 2006.
She was a member of Farm Bureau, Cherry Beach Senior Center and China Twp. Seniors. Barbara served as secretary for 14 years for the China Twp. Seniors group. She also enjoyed volunteering as a server for many funeral dinners at St. Mary’s Church.
Her love of baking was a blessing to everyone who knew her. She shared all her talents and recipes with her daughters and granddaughters. Her wonderful cookies and breads were a welcome treat wherever she went.
She is survived by a son, James (Diane) McCalla, daughters; Marilyn (Dennis) Browning, Carolyn (Ben) Hosford, Jane (Don) Davenport and Joyce (Charles) Frank and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Margaret Mynning, brother in law, William McCalla and sister in law, Elaine McCalla.
Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Donald McCalla in 1967, brother, James Merkel and brother in law, Donald Mynning.

Funeral services will be Saturday January 31st at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair. Visiting hours are Friday 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to mass.
