Mrs. Lynn L. Smith's Obituary
Linda Lee Smith, age 69, of St. Clair passed away peacefully on July 30, 2013. She was a loving wife of 34 years to Bill Smith, who preceded her in death on December 26, 2005.
Lynn is survived by her children; Ron (Sue) Vanderwill, Bill (Maureen) Smith, and grandchildren – Bronson and Veronica Vanderwill, Zachary, Mackenzie, and Carly Smith. She is also succeeded by her brother Fred and sister-in-law Pat Schrock.
After graduating from high school in 1961, Lynn attended Comptometer School to study data processing. Through the school she secured a position with the Fisher Body Division of General Motors. It was through a GM after-work get together at the local watering hole where she met Bill. He asked her to dance, and well, we all know how much Lynn liked to dance (and sing!).
Now married and raising a family, Bill and Lynn started and grew two successful motorcycle businesses. Cycle Parts in East Detroit (1972), and then Macomb Powersports in Chesterfield (1984).
After retiring in 2005, Lynn and Bill enjoyed traveling, and ended up spending quite a bit of time at their home in Arizona. There was never a shortage of friends to be found, no matter where their travels took them.
Lynn will always be remembered for her enduring smile, positive attitude, and good nature. She was a dear friend to many, and an inspiration to all who knew her. We shouldn’t mourn our loss, but celebrate that she was a part of our life.
You may pay your respects at Young Funeral Home, located at 4061 St. Clair Hwy, China Township, MI on Sunday, August 11th, 2013 beginning at 10:00 AM. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon, with a luncheon at the Voyageur following the service.
If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lynn’s name to the Arthritis National Research Foundation at www.curearthritis.org.
