Mrs. Lucille Chartier's Obituary
Lucile Chartier, 88.
Born Herndon Lucille Ledford on December 20, 1924 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Died February 20, 2013 at home in Marine City, surrounded by loving family and caregivers.
She was married to the late Earl Chartier for nearly 70 years. He died January 11, 2013. They had met in Fort Campbell KY where she was working and he was there as a consultant. They made their home in the Marine City/Starville area where they operated Chartier Stables. In the early 1950s, she went to work for Marine City Schools, later moving to positions with East China School District, from which she retired after many years. She continued to be remembered and recognized by former students, and was very proud of her contributions to the education system.
Lucile is survived by son Ken (Jenay) Chartier of Marine City and daughter Linda (Glen) Conner of Mt. Juliet, TN, one sister; Patricia Kennedy, grandchildren Joseph, Cris (Danielle), and Konner Chartier, Ryan (Kaska), and Brad (Karin) Hill; 6 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and beloved dog, Buddy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and 4 sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday February 24th at 12:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours are Saturday 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Private burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Starville.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
