Lisa Jane Hulber's Obituary
Lisa Jane Hulber, age 59, of China Twp., passed away peacefully February 1, 2022. She was born February 10, 1962 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Lisa married Scott Hulber June 10, 1995 at the St. Clair Inn on the banks of the St. Clair River.
Lisa and Scott met in California when Scott worked for McDonell Douglas Aero Space Corporation and Lisa was working in the entertainment/music industry as Concert Lighting Director. Together they opened a Coffee House called “Strange Brew Espresso” and the rest as they say is history. Lisa and Scott left California in late 1994 and headed for a new life in Michigan.
Lisa graduated with honors and was a double major in arts at Macomb Community College. She was a spectacular artist and musician, she directed and produced the Rocky Horror Show and also was the Lighting and set designer for McMorran, Port Huron Civic Theater and several others. Lisa volunteered and mentored at many local high schools for creative lighting, theater and set design along with volunteering for the Daughters of Isabella. Lisa and Scott successfully rescued roughly 60 dogs specifically puppies raising them to have a better life once they were available for adoption. She also had a “Green Thumb” and was an avid master gardener. But most of all Lisa enjoyed the times she got to spend with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Scott; parents, Malcolm and Florann Mckoy; siblings, Marijane Wilburn, Greg Mckoy, Debby Derflinger, Jeff West, Lynn Farrell, Vance West and Rob West; brother-in-law Michael (Jill) Hulber, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Lisa is preceded in death by her mother-in-law Janice Hulber and father-in-law David Hulber, Lisa is also now reunited with her loving, devoted fur companion, life saver and giver of life for an extra 12 years Effie.
A Visitation will take place Tuesday February 8, 2022 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a service at 7:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. The funeral service will be live streamed at 7:00 p.m., so those who are unable attend the funeral will be able to watch the service on our website (website link below) where a link will be provided on Lisa’s tribute wall. Lisa will be laid to rest on Wednesday February 9, 2022 at Resurrection Cemetery.
