Lawrence "Bud" Meldrum's Obituary
Lawrence "Bud" Meldrum, age 88, of Marine City, died June 9, 2010. He was born August 25, 1921 in Fair Haven to the late William and Mabel Meldrum.
On August 17, 1940 Bud married Mary Ann LaFrance in Algonac. She preceded him in death in 1996.
Bud was a lifelong resident of Marine City. He worked all his life on boats, from being crew chief and head mechanic on the Unlimited Hydroplanes to running marinas and then doing engine work on boats.
He is survived by his children; Bonnie (Richard) Brockmiller of Kalkaska, Michigan, Diana (Dennis) Jones of Hernando, Florida, William (Mary) Meldrum of Armada, Michigan.
11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Joseph and six brothers.
He was very involved with his religious beliefs and loved his God above all else. He was a very soft spoken man with many wonderful friends. He also had a religious song recorded.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Saturday June 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peters Lutheran Church, 6745 S. Palms Rd. Fair Haven, MI 48023.
In leiu of flowers memorials may be made to St. John's Hospice.
