Mr. Lawrence B. Longeway's Obituary
Lawrence B. Longeway, “Larry Burda”, age 74, of Marine City, died April 11, 2015 unexpectedly at home with his family by his side. Larry was born February 21, 1941 in Detroit. He married Fern A. Hilla on July 22, 1976 in Marine City. Larry proudly served eight years with the U.S. Air force, where he was a Russian Linguist serving at SAC Headquarters. He was honorably discharged with rank of Staff Sergeant. Larry was Past President and a member for over 35 years with the Marine City Rotary Club. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason. Larry loved entertaining by playing his guitar. He played for 40 years traveling across the United States and Canada.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Fern Longeway, children; Charles & Richard Dery, Margaret (Javier) Valdaz, John (Matt) Longeway, Carrie (Desmond) McConnell, grandchildren; Chadwick and Hannah McConnell and Casey and Connor, four great grandchildren, sister, Celia (Fred) Thibault, his beloved cat Tori and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two infant sons, parents, Harry and Marguerite Longeway and brother, Paul Longeway.
Military Honors will be conducted Saturday August 8th at 1:30 p.m. A Memorial Service and luncheon will take place immediately following at the Marine City Knights of Columbus Hall.
