Larry Arthur Buchler's Obituary
Larry Arthur Buchler, age 74, of Hamburg Twp., Pinckey, MI, passed away in his home on August 12, 2018. He was born July 6, 1944 in St. Clair to the late Milton H. Buchler and Margaret (Weiland) Buchler- Simons. Larry was raised on a farm on Plank rd., Cottrellville Twp., Marine City, MI. He attended Hart School, a one room school house for the first nine grades. He graduated with honors from Marine City High School in 1962. His father died when he was 13 years old. He was active in 4-H, raising rabbits and sheep. He attended college at St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron for 2 years. He then entered in the United States Army on his 21st birthday and served in Germany during the Vietnam War. After his service, he returned to college at Eastern Michigan University. He started work for State Farm Insurance, Marshall, MI; later the regional office in Ann Arbor, from 1971 to 2002 as a commercial property underwriter. His hobbies include: gardening, playing cards (especially Euchre), traveling to many parts of Europe, Egypt, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and United States. He especially enjoyed fishing trips with family and friends (including fly-ins to northern Ontario).
Larry is survived by his siblings, Darlene Butler, Evelyn Panos, Thomas (Sue) Simons, Janice (Fred) Hale; nephews, Jeff Butler, Bill, John, and Greg Panos, Rob and Dan Simons, and Jason Hale; nieces, Deanna Reed and Kate Simons; great nephews, Joel Reed (Bethany), Matt, Cameron, and John “Jack” Panos; great nieces, Ginelle Reed, Chelsea Panos, as well as cousins, and many other special friends and neighbors.
A funeral service will be held Saturday August 25 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Marine City. Visiting hours will be 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
