Kenneth Leverenz's Obituary
Kenneth H. Leverenz, age 78, of St. Clair and Huachuca City, AZ, passed away on March 23, 2010. Kenneth was born September 29, 1931 to Herman and Gladys Leverenz. He married Lois Schueneman on September 29, 1951 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in St. Clair. He graduated from St. Clair High School, Class of 1949. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean War. He was a life member of VFW Post 10342 in Huachuca City, AZ. He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church and had served on the Church Council and as an usher. Ken was an amateur radio operator. His call sign DA8EDS will now become a silent mike key. Ken enjoyed fishing, camping, travelling, and spending the winters in Arizona. Ken also worked at the Diamond Crystal Salt and Azko Salt Co., retiring in 1992 after 41 years.
He is survived by his wife Lois, daughter and son in law Nancy and Jeff Raschke of Gresham, Oregon. A son Timothy of East China. Grandchildren, Jennifer and Susan Raschke of Oregon, Leighann Roulo and Michelle Leverenz of St. Clair. Great grandchildren, Kylee, Brycen, Alex, and Aiden. Sister and brother in law, Marion and Richard Zimmer of Arizona, brother and sister in law, Melvin and Marilyn Leverenz of Florida, sister in law, Dorothy Schueneman and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Matthew Leverenz, brother in law, Carman Schueneman, brother in law and sister in law, Jim and Phyllis Rocker.
Funeral services will be held Saturday March 27th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peters Lutheran Church, St. Clair. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair. Pastor Roland Troike will officiate.
Visiting hours are Thursday 6:000 to 9:00 and Friday 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 at Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, China Twp. and Saturday 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
Memorials are suggested to St. Peters Lutheran Church, St. Clair.
