Keith Hauke's Obituary
Keith Hauke, age 95, of Marine City, died gently on October 5, 2012 with his family in attendance. He was born on February 8, 1917 and had a intersting early life. His family moved frequently including a cross country trip in a model T in the 1920's. He was a WWII veteran who served in the European Theatre. Following his service to his country he returned to his job at Detroit Edison. In 1952 he transferred to the St. Clair Power Plant and worked there until his retirement in 1978. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement because it allowed him the time to research and write about various topics including mass transit, Social Security and his several hundred page autobiography. He liked to keep abreast on aviation topics. He was also an avid card player. He read the paper daily and especially enjoyed the comics section.
Keith was an active member at the First Congregational Church in St. Clair. He enjoyed family gatherings and keeping up on the news about his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He married his wife Catherine in April of 1949. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2011. He is survived by his children; Kathleen (Joe) Moran, Marcia (Tom) Henke, Douglas (Lanora) Hauke, Wendy (Francis) Ladensack, Lorel (Gerald, Jr.) Bradshaw, Kevin (Bonnie) Hauke, 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
