Kathleen M. Wood's Obituary
Kathleen M. Wood, age 55, of Marine City, passed away unexpectedly on August 22, 2025. She was born on February 5, 1970 to Lorraine and the late David Wood. Kathy was a graduate of Marine City High School, class of 1988. After working several jobs, she found her passion in caring for the elderly while working at various nursing homes. This motivated her to earn her Associates from Lansing Community College to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She continued her career and took great pride in caring for the elderly working for nursing homes as well as home health care. Kathy was selfless, who put others needs before her own. She enjoyed doing volunteer work. Kathy often assisted at Harbor Impact, Marysville as well as the Heritage Museum in Marine City. She was an avid collector of stamps, books, coins, and rocks. Kathy was crafty, always working on some sort of project to gift someone or decorate her home. She found peace in spending time in her garden, tending to her flowers. Kathy’s generous heart, patience, compassion, and devotion will be missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by her wife, Holly Ryti; mother, Lorraine Wood; children, Sheldon Ryti, Sylvia Ryti; siblings, Colleen Wood, Matthew (Sharon Grasl) Wood; nieces and nephews, Ryan (Kristin) Spaulding, Nicholas (Chelsey) Wood, Amber Anderson, Samantha Anderson, Annabelle Wood, Connor Wood, Leia McNiff, Emma McNiff; great nieces and nephews, Ashden, Allie, Jordan, Liam, Vinny as well as several special aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Chrissie Wood.
A celebration of life service will take place on Saturday September 20th at 1:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
