Kathleen Mary Haligowski's Obituary
Kathleen M. “Kay” Haligowski, age 97 of St. Clair, passed away peacefully March 1, 2026 at the Willows at Howell. Kay was born July 8, 1928 in St. Clair to the late Edwin and Mary Trumble. Kathleen and Chester Haligowski were married October 11, 1952 and enjoyed 40 years of marriage before his passing in 1993.
Kay graduated from St. Clair High School in 1945 at the age of 16 years old as valedictorian. She was bookkeeper for the City of St. Clair for many years. Kay was a lifelong active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. She also was a member of the Daughters of Isabella for over 50 years and would volunteer for the Red Cross blood drives.
Kay enjoyed traveling, a spirited game of euchre along with other card games, gardening, flowers, bowling and many weekends at the cottage in Caseville. Kay also enjoyed crocheting and made it a point to make each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren baby blankets.
Kathleen is survived by her son and daughter in law, David and Janet Haligowski; grandchildren, Joe (Heidi), Dave (Beth) and Mike (Emily) Haligowski, Andy (Krista) and Aaron (Leslie) McCormick; great grandchildren, Anna, Eloise, Zoe, Addy, Lilah, Jack and Ben Haligowski, Liam, Reagan, Maeve, Miles and Joni McCormick and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter and son in law, Jane and Jim McCormick and sisters, Virginia Rzonca, Bertha Artman and Norma Oles.
Funeral mass will be Saturday, March 7th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. rosary and Saturday 10:00 to 10:30 at Young Funeral Home, China Twp.
