Judy Victoria Emunson's Obituary
Judy Victoria (Wolgast) Emunson, a woman of profound empathy, kindness, and faith, passed away peacefully at the age of 79, on October 15, 2025, in Port Huron, MI.
Judy was born on September 2, 1946, in Detroit, MI, to the late Walter and June (Penny) Wolgast, with sibling Walter. She grew up in St. Clair, MI and graduated from St. Clair High School in 1964.
Judy grew up in a farming family where faith was deeply important, and her beliefs were woven by her actions, offering kindness and support to all those around her. She was a member of Smiths Creek Bible Church, Smiths Creek, MI., and attended Columbus Bible Church, Columbus Twp., MI., Columbus Baptist Church, Columbus Twp., MI., St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, St. Clair, MI., and Marysville United Methodist Church, Marysville, MI.
Judy enjoyed her work as a bookkeeper and postal counter clerk. Her first job was at Mortimer Lumber of Port Huron, where she met her husband Donald of 58 years. She worked several years at Marwood Manor. One of her most beloved jobs was working the counter at the Smiths Creek Postal Office. Countless counter conversations about life, pets, and family took place. If you went to the post office it was for more than just to send a letter or a package. Halloween was always fun to see what her costume would be.
Her last job, Emunson Process Service, was a job she loved because she was able to work with Don and her son David. Clients loved the personal touches she added to each invoice be it a note, pressed flower, or a bookmarker.
Judy enjoyed her volunteer work because she served the Lord by helping others. Countless Bible camps, Sunday school classes, and always available when the call came in to help her fellow neighbor. Additionally, if you lived near the home, you had a place to stay and play. A home decorated for every holiday and filled with games, coloring books, reading books and crafts for all ages. Her beloved visitors were the Schmude kids, Christiansen kids, and Vinnie, her great nephew.
Judy was a beloved, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and soon to be great grandmother. Family and friends were precious to her, and she was very dear to them. She is survived by her husband Donald Emunson, sons David Emunson; Daniel Emunson and wife Roxie, and grandchildren Codie Emunson and wife LeighAnna, Carson (Emunson) and husband Camdyn McElroy; Austin Emunson; brother Walter Wolgast and wife Debbie; nephew John Wolgast and wife Sarah and children Vincent, Jacob, and Joshua; and niece Dawn.
Generous, sensitive, and loving, Judy touched the lives of all she knew with gentleness. She loved sharing the word of Christ with others, feeding natures’ beautiful animals, her dogs, and socializing with customers while working at the Smiths Creek Post Office. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
She saw the world with positivity and lived to bring happiness to others. She sung with joy Psalm 118:24 "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” That joy and love are her legacy. Judy had a knack for knowing when you needed a prayer and she trusted her Lord to lead her to those that needed Him most, to include a server at a restaurant, airline stewardess, or even a stranger in line. The Lord’s word was to be shared with everyone that Judy could touch.
The family would like to extend a special thanks and gratitude to her caregivers at St. Clair MediLodge and McLaren Port Huron Hospital.
Her family will gather with gratitude to celebrate Judy’s life at Smiths Creek Bible Church, 249 Henry St, Smiths Creek on Friday November 7th at 10:30 a.m. The family will be available at 9:30 a.m. for friends to greet and share their stories of how Judy touched their lives.
