Judith A. Ritter's Obituary
Judy Ritter, age 82, of Adair, passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family on February 21, 2024. She was born December 24, 1941 to the late Rex and Dorothy Garner in Saginaw, Michigan and was raised on the family farm in Vassar. On July 8, 1964, Judy married Rodney Ritter Sr. in West Branch, Michigan.
Judy was a lady of many interests, she was an avid quilter and also loved sewing. For over 20 years she gave quilting lessons and worked at Sew Together in Richmond. Her children and grandchildren each have her handmade quilts to cherish for many years.
Her passion for gardening and growing flowers was a testament to her green thumb. Family camping trips and fishing were always something she looked forward to. Spending time in the kitchen was also familiar to Judy, preparing meals and cooking and baking for family and special events for everyone to enjoy. She also had an eye for antiques. She would collect a few and just enjoy the history of other pieces she saw while antiquing.
A couple favorite events Judy looked forward to each year were her annual Christmas Eve birthday breakfast with family at the Riveria and the Garner family reunion in Vassar at the family farm. The reunion has been celebrated for over 100 years on the family property, which has been in the Garner family for over 170 years.
Judy is survived by her husband of 59 years, Rod Ritter; children, Teresa (Kenny) Volkman, Janice (Dan) Schweihofer, Rod Jr. (Nancy) Ritter and Karen (Shawn) Ritter-Mow; 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren (with 2 more on the way this year), siblings, Jane Ratza, Joann (Jim) Guinther, Doug (Sheryl) Garner and Jean Martinka and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held later this summer.
