Joyce Jessie Wiinikainen's Obituary
Joyce Wiinikainen passed away at the age of 89 on January 14, 2018, at Wellbridge of Rochester Hills, Michigan. She was born on May 26,1928, to Theodore and Jessie (Dycie) TenEyck. She married Paul Stanley 'Stan' Wiinikainen on November 20, 1954.
She was born in Sault Ste. Marie and lived there until she moved with her husband to Marine City in 1956.
She was a registered nurse and worked first in hospitals, then for many years as school nurse for Marine City Schools. She loved her family, her home, gardening, traveling, and golfing. She was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church of Marine City.
She is survived by her four daughters: Janis (Fred) Taylor, Diana (Glenn) Rittenger, Sue (Brian) Hayes and Paula (Greg) VanHouten, ten grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stan Wiinikainen, who died March 27, 2017.
She was loved. She will be missed.
A memorial service will be held February 3 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Marine City. Visitation will be at 10am and funeral at 11am. Memorial donations may be made to the Marine City Scholarship Foundation under her husband’s name, Stanley Wiinikainen. Arrangements by Young's Funeral Home, www.youngcolonial.com.
