Joyce M. Coppens' Obituary
Joyce M. Coppens, age 72, of China Township was escorted by the Angels to her heavenly home on December 3, 2022. Joyce was born in Detroit on May 19, 1950 to the late Mary (Bommarito) and Ralph Saverino. Joyce graduated from Lakeview High School, St. Clair Shores in 1968. She married Dennis Coppens on July 10, 1970 and he preceded her in death on December 13, 2010.
Joyce loved her home in Florida, the ocean, reading, playing cards and “looking for treasures” at garage sales. From ducks to dogs, Joyce was an extreme animal lover. Most importantly, Joyce loved being with and creating memories with her family, friends and especially her five grandchildren, whom she adored.
Joyce held a variety of jobs throughout her lifetime. She was a valued sales assistant at Catherine’s Clothing store in Fort Gratiot. She worked in the sales department at the Richmond Review and finally retired from the Port Huron Times Herald. Everyone benefited tremendously because of her amazing customer service skills and friendly smile.
Joyce is survived by her two sons; Brett (Janel) Coppens and Chad (Brenda) Coppens. Grandchildren: Brett Jr., Molly, Olivia, Abigail, and Dylan Coppens. Joyce is also survived by many cousins; nieces and nephews; her devoted care-taker, Krista Landis; and her two “Soul Sisters”, Pat Davis and Loraine Collins.
Memorial service will held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 18 at Young Funeral Home, China Twp.
Memorial gathering will be from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to the wishes of the family.
