Joshua Alan Smit's Obituary
Joshua Alan Smit passed away on June 3, 2025, at the age of 23.
Joshua was the beloved son of Richard and Bonny Smit, loving brother of Andrew and Lee, and a cherished uncle to Avalyn and McKenzie.
Joshua was born on October 21, 2001, at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, MI. He spent his early childhood in Roseville MI., before moving to Saint Clair, MI., in 2010. Joshua graduated from Saint Clair High School in 2020 and had recently begun taking classes at SC4.
Joshua was a strong athlete. He played football from an early age, from elementary school throughout high school. His skilled positions of tight end and defensive end boosted team spirit and moral “Go Saints”! Joshua also joined the track team and became a potential sports star overnight. He was very talented in shot put and excelled at discus. Sportsmanship and teamwork brought him great joy and pride. He was a coach’s dream team player and a champion in the making.
Joshua had a great appreciation for the outdoors and found happiness in fishing, camping, and hiking. He also had a deep passion for music and was especially proud of his talent for playing the drums, a love that brought joy to the lives of those around him and a love he shared with his brothers. They enjoyed jamming out together and spent many nights bonding over their favorite music.
Joshua shared a special bond with his pets, who were a great comfort and source of joy throughout his life. His dogs Sammy and Koda sadly passed, and he leaves behind his loyal companion, Cookie.
Joshua's vibrant spirit, kind heart, and love for life left a lasting impression on everyone he met. What a symbol of a great soul and shining spirit, a bright star for all the world to see. His memory will live on in the beauty of the wilderness he cherished, in the beat of every drum, and in the hearts of all who loved him.
