Joseph D. Irvin's Obituary
Joseph D. Irvin, 88, of St. Clair, Michigan passed away at home on September 12, 2016.
He was born in Muncie, Indiana February 20, 1928, the son of Charles and Marie Irvin.
He was a graduate of Royerton High School and Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 earning rank of Private First Class. He taught at St. Clair High School for the East China School District.
He dedicated his life to family, church and friends. He loved building cars and houses, sailing, skiing, nature and classical music. He was happiest when spending time enjoying family and serving at church. He will be missed by all.
He was predeceased by his sister, Esther Mae Russell, 89, of Muncie, Indiana.
He is survived by his wife, of 65 years, Norma (Emenhiser) Irvin; 3 children: David and Jan (Irvin) Foster of Austin, Texas, Ed and Kristi Irvin of Altoona, Wisconsin, and Dan Irvin of New Baltimore, Michigan; 7 grandchildren: Andrew Foster, Carol (Irvin) Ahrendt, Katie (Irvin) Rheingans, Marie (Irvin) Kotenko, Charles Irvin, Michelle Irvin, and Daniel Irvin; 5 greatgrandchildren: Michelle, Anastasia, and Gabriel Ahrendt, Anna Rheingans, Kara Kotenko; and his brother, George Irvin, of Chico, California, several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at Columbus Bible Church, 1770 Palms Rd. Columbus, Michigan on Saturday September 17th at 11 a.m. Pastor, Jim Smith, will officiate. Family will receive visitors at the church prior to service from 10 to 11 a.m. Arrangements by Young Funeral Home, China Twp.
