John William MacDonald's Obituary
John William MacDonald, 74, of Marysville, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on June 2, 2025. Born on April 4, 1951, he was the son of the late Laura Lee and John Nelson MacDonald.
John graduated from Fraser High School in 1969, then proudly served his country as a Vietnam War Army Combat Veteran and was a dedicated member of the American Legion. After his military service, he worked for Intertape Polymer, retiring after 29 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jan MacDonald; his twin sister, Jackie (Richard) Pfaff; his former spouse and mother of his children, Mary MacDonald; his children, Marie (Kelly) Stevenson, Mark Stevenson, Jamie (Eric) Meier and John (Becca) MacDonald; his stepchildren, Angie (Tim) Gleason, Kevin Markel and Kristi (Paul) Muscat; his cherished grandchildren, Jessica (Joel) Ward and Ashley Stevenson, Brandon and Alex (Alyssa) Stevenson, MacKenzie and Keira Meier, Haylee and Wally Kettlewell, Maverick and Nash MacDonald, Brady Gleason, Myles, Mitchell and Meah Markel, Paul, Lauren and Luke Muscat; his great-grandchildren, Jason Ward, Dylan, Sophee and Charlee Quick; his nephew, Lt. Cmndr. U.S.N. Joseph (Andrea) Pfaff; and preceded in death by his grandson Riley Gleason.
John’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid sports fan, GO TIGERS, often engaging in lively discussions about his favorite teams and players. His enthusiasm for sports was a reflection of his vibrant personality and love for camaraderie. Additionally, John had a deep appreciation for movies, frequently gathering with loved ones to watch and discuss his favorites. His warm presence and infectious laughter will be missed by all who knew him.
Come join us for a Celebration of John’s Life, at Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, at 4061 St. Clair Hwy., East China Twp., MI 48054, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 from 10am-12pm, followed by a short service with Military Honors. The family requests donations be made to the Riley Gleason Foundation, American Legion Post #566 Memphis, MI or to the wishes of the family.
