Joan L. Rettinger's Obituary
Joan L. Rettinger, age 68, of Marine City, died June 23, 2011. She was born May 12, 1943 in St. Clair to the late David and Violet Burns.
On September 16, 1961 Joan Burns married Fred Rettinger Sr. in Holy Cross Church, Marine City. He preceded her in death June 15, 2011.
Joan was a certified teacher of ceramics in her store Play "N" Clay in Marine City, where she taught many students and formed many life long friendships.
She is survived by her childen; Fred. J. Jr. (Kimberly) Rettinger and Tracey (Douglas) Zielinski, grandchildren; Alicia, Victoria "Tory" and Madison, brothers in law and sisters in law; Marvin Markel, Martha Delor and Conrad Rettinger Jr. She was preceded in death by a sister Alynne Markel.
Funeral services will be held Monday June 27th at 10:30 a.m. at Young Funeral Home and 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady on the River Parish, Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Marine City. Visiting hours are Sunday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a 7:30 rosary. Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
