Jerry Dan Girtman's Obituary
Jerry Dan Girtman, age 86, of Southfield, Michigan passed away January 13,2024. He was born July 30,1937 at home on the family farm near Greenway, Arkansas. He was the youngest of five boys born to the late George and Pauline Girtman, nee Montgomery. The boys included George Dale who died as an infant, Paul Mac, Ted, Billy and Jerry.
Jerry was a 1959 graduate of Arkansas State University with a degree in Business Administration. He followed his brothers north to Michigan where they had all gone to work for the automotive industry. Jerry originally worked as a branch manager of a credit union.
He married Louise Florence Coutelle on July 30, 1960 in Ferndale, Michigan and into that marriage five children were born.
He eventually began working at Ford Motor Company and retired thirty-five years later in 1999. He was a Program Director for Technical Training and had been involved with numerous important advancements in the industry as well as authoring several technical books.
He was a member of Centerline and then Evergreen #9 Free and Accepted Masons.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise in 2007 and by his son Daniel as well as Brothers Ted and Billy.
Jerry is survived by four children, Pauline Larange, Julie (Mark) Danna, Steven (Jennifer) Girtman and Jerry Girtman, his brother Paul Mac Girtman, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many other family and friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday January 18,2024 at 11:00 a.m.at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, St.Clair with a luncheon to follow. Visiting hours are Wednesday January 17,2024 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday for one hour prior to the funeral.
