Jeffrey Jay Jones' Obituary
Jeffrey Jay Jones, 69, of East China, Michigan, died after a short illness on Sunday, December 18, 2022, in McLaren Hospital in Port Huron, with his wife and loved ones at his side.
He was born September 25, 1953, in St. Clair, Michigan, to the late Robert John Jones and Colleen Barbara (Groff) Jones. He married Susan Jean Brown (Suzie Jones) on September 1, 1979, in Port Huron, and she survives.
Jeff graduated from Marine City High School in 1971 and earned an Associate of Science degree in architecture from St. Clair County Community College. He was a third-generation home builder who worked all his adult life in construction and home remodeling in the Marine City area, including for many years alongside his father. He was known far and wide as a person who could (and would) fix anything, and for his patience and persistence in doing so.
Jeff was a loving and devoted husband to Suzie and a much loved and appreciated brother and uncle to his family. He and Suzie doted on their rescue dog, Abby. He is survived by his sisters, Jennifer Gierke, Joni (Dave Haviland) LeRoy, and Julie (Don) Davenport; Jennifer’s daughter, Stephanie (Wesley) Yee; Joni’s sons, Nick (Amy Witting), Mike (Sara), and Jeffrey (Sarah); Julie’s children, Jessica and Jeremy; his longtime best friend, Doug LeRoy; and numerous extended family members who will miss him very much.
Visitation will take place at Young Funeral Home in China Twp. on Tuesday, December 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, in Marysville United Methodist Church, where the family will receive visitors beginning at 10 a.m. A luncheon reception will follow the service. The Reverend Curtis Clarke will officiate. Burial will be at Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville. Memorial donations may be made to The People’s Clinic of Port Huron, Helping Hands of Marine City, or the American Heart Association.
