Jason "Vern" Matthew Benson's Obituary
Jason “Vern” Matthew Benson, age 47, of Macomb formerly of China Twp., passed away unexpectedly April 21, 2025. He was born August 13, 1977, in Mount Clemens to Dale and Margie Benson. In his teenage years while going to high school Jason worked for Silk’s Flower Shop delivering flowers, upon graduating from St. Clair High School class of 1996 he worked for Skola Construction where he eventually became a master carpenter. His most recent job he was a respiratory therapist for Corwell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital; this job took him all over the country during the pandemic helping patients recover.
Jason loved being outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, space and astrology through his telescope. He had a hobby of fixing electronics, and he fit in everywhere he went and with everyone he met.
He is survived by his parents Dale (Margie) Benson; siblings, Lisa (Gerry) Zyla, Erik (Shay) Benson; nephews, Jacob (Ashley) Benson, Mitchell (Sarah) Benson, Zach (Ally) Zyla; Uncle Ken (Kimberly) Kukura.
A funeral service will be held on Friday April 25, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. with visiting from 3:00 p.m. until time of service. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. To leave a message of comfort visit www.youngcolonial.com
