Janet Ward Verellen's Obituary
Janet Ward Verellen, age 61, of Marine City, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2009 at her home surrounded by family. She was born January 2, 1948 in Mt. Clemens
Janet married Brian Verellen on June 12, 1981 in Romeo, Michigan. Because of a previous accident, Jan was confined to a wheelchair, but it never held her back. She attended Macomb Community College and then transferring to Walsh College of Business & Accounting, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1974 with an Accounting Degree. She was a self-employed CPA working from home.
In 1995 Jan and Brian opened Verellen Farm in Marine City, which Jan grew to love.
Janet is survived by her husband Brian. Son; Nathaniel Verellen. Stepchildren; Andrea McVicar, Brandon (Debra) Verellen, Alyce (Jeff) Austin, Matthew (Amy) Verellen. Parents; Robert and Alice Ward. She is also the loving grandmother of many grandchildren. Siblings; Barbara (William) Browne, Kathy (Wilbert) Warner, Lynn (Frank) Sparger, and Robert A. Ward. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and close friends.
A funeral Mass will be held Monday at 10am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Anchorville. Visitation will be held Saturday from 6-9pm and Sunday from 2-4 and 6-9pm with a 7pm Rosary at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Additional visitation will be from 9:30-10am at the church on Monday.
