Janet Elenore Pastiva's Obituary
Janet Eleanore (Shurtleff) Pastiva, age 89, of St. Clair, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2024. Janet was born on June 5, 1934 to the late Leroy and Margaret Shurtleff (St. Clair). She lived in Detroit and later raised in Grosse Pointe Woods. She married Mike Pastiva (Flint) on January 25, 1957.
They raised their family in St. Clair Shores where Janet also worked and retired from the 36th District Court as a clerk. After retirement they moved to St. Clair. Janet had many hobbies, but art and poetry were her favorites. She was active in the Blue Water Art Association and various bible study groups in the area. Janet and Mike traveled, played Euchre all over the St. Clair/Port Huron area. She was an avid bowler, played golf, traveled, and just enjoyed life.
Janet is survived by her children, Carolyn (David) Mogan, Joyce Pastiva, Gary (Pamela) Pastiva; grandchildren, Kristen (Brad) Schopieray, Eric Mogan, Jennifer Hall, David (Julissa) Hall, Jack Pastiva; great grandchildren, Jake Schopieray, Evan Schopieray. She also embraced her relationships with her sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews as well as those cherished friends that were like family. She is preceded in death by her husband Mike Pastiva and her brother Robert Shurtleff.
According to Janet’s wishes, cremation arrangements entrusted to Young Funeral Home with a private internment in St. Mary’s cemetery next to her husband.
A celebration of her life will take place on Friday, January 26 at the St. Clair Inn. A scripture service will begin at 11 a.m. followed by a reflection to share memories. Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m.
