Janet Joanne (Keyes) Fountain's Obituary
Janet Joanne (Keyes) Fountain, age 91, of St. Clair, passed away January 6, 2024 in Port Huron, MI. Janet was born on August 13, 1932 to Phillip and Myrtle (Marie) Keyes in Jackson, MI. She graduated from East Jackson High School and then met Thomas A. Fountain. They were married on September 2, 1950. Tom and Jan spent many years traveling around the country and raising their three children while Tom served in the Navy. Following military service, they eventually settled in St. Clair and Janet enrolled in SC4’s nursing program. She graduated on January 24, 1973 earning her LPN degree, and began her nursing career at River District Hospital. When Tom’s Job once again took them across the country, she continued her nursing career in several other states until their return to St. Clair, where she again worked at RDH until her retirement after over 35 years of nursing. Janet enjoyed time spent with family, traveling, reading, gardening, walking, exercising, and lunching with friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Michele (James) Strickler, her son, Thomas M. (Dotty) Fountain; grandchildren, Tara (Bill) Randall, Jami (Scott) Alexander, Holly (Brian) Tatman, Thomas R (Randi) Fountain; eight wonderful great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas A. Fountain; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Ron Felstow; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and “Bud” Higgins; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Sophie Keyes.
A special “Thank you” to Marwood Manor, especially the physical therapists and the staff on Dove Lane, and to McLaren Hospice Group for their loving care and kindness.
