James W. Gramer's Obituary
China Township
James W. Gramer, age 72, passed away peacefully at home on November 24, 2009. He was born November 12, 1937 to the late Walter and Agnes (Posey) Gramer of China Township.
He graduated from Holy Cross High School, class of 1956 and enlisted in the United States Air Force.
On October 5, 1963, he married Sandra Schneider in Holy Cross Church, Marine City.
After 35 years as a natural gas serviceman, he retired from SEMCO Energy Gas Company in 1998. He also worked at Marine City Aviation for six years.
He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, The National Rifle Association, and Pine River Sportsman’s Club.
He enjoyed sailing, trapshooting, hunting, and traveling to all of the lower 48 States in his 5th wheel camper. He enjoyed reading, and most of all the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sandra. Sons, Stephen Gramer Sr. of China Township, Kevin (Annie) Gramer of Warrenton, Virginia. Daughter; Cynthia Kramer of Westminster, Maryland. Grandchildren; Dean (Lauren) Perez, Beth (Phillip) Frye, Joshua Gramer, all of Warrenton, Virginia. Christopher and Stephen Gramer Jr. of Marine City, Hannah and Lauren Kramer of Westminster, Maryland. Great-grandchildren; Ethan and Mailee Perez, and Brayden Frye. Brothers; Albert (Jane) Gramer of East China, and Walter (Sharon) Gramer of Tawas, Michigan. Sister-in-laws; Jeanne (Bernie) Elsholz, Ruth Schneider, Debra Langell, and Audrey Schneider. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will begin at 10:15am on Saturday at Young Funeral Home and processing to Holy Cross Catholic Church for a 11am Mass. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery, East China. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 2-9pm. Memorials are suggested to St. Vincent DePaul or Marine City Scholarship Foundation. www.youngcolonial.com
