James H. "Jim" Rourke's Obituary
James H. “Jim” Rourke, age 66, of Algonac, formerly of St. Clair, died November 25, 2015. He was born November 28, 1948 to Richard J. and Kathleen A. (Denomy) Rourke in St. Clair.
Jim graduated from St. Clair High School in 1966 and later graduated from St. Clair County Community College and the University of Michigan. He is a Vietnam veteran serving with the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1970. Jim married Cynthia A. Sass on July 2, 1977.
Jim retired from Mueller Industries in 2013 after 37 years. He began with Mueller Brass in 1976 as a sales trainee and retired as President of Mueller Industries, Inc., Industrial Products Division. During his career he was involved with several civic and industry organizations including the United Way of St. Clair County, twice serving as Campaign Chair, Port Huron Hospital Board and Copper and Brass Fabricators Council, Inc. Jim was an avid U of M sports fan and enjoyed fishing on Lake St. Clair with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cindy, son, Patrick, mother, Kathleen Rourke, sisters and brothers; JoAnn (Steve) Lewis, Jayne (Martin) Chouinard, Timothy Rourke, Elaine (Michael) Miller, Carolyn Rourke and Robert (Cathy) Rourke. Sisters in law and brothers in law; Karen (Dave) Klink, Sandra (Gary) Meyer, Douglas (Chris) Sass and Julie Sass. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard “Hap” Rourke and brother, Daniel.
Funeral Mass will be Monday November 30th at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. Visiting hours are Saturday 3 to 8 p.m. and Sunday 2 to 8 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Monday 10 to 11 a.m. at church prior to mass.
