James Delbert Rourke Sr.'s Obituary
James Delbert Rourke Sr. March 12, 1943 - March 11, 2021 James Delbert Rourke of Engadine Michigan passed away March 11, 2021 at Regency on the Lake, Fort Gratiot, Michigan after a long illness. Jim was raised in Walled Lake, where he graduated from Walled Lake High School. He spent many childhood vacations with his family in the Upper Peninsula on the Hiawatha Sportsmen's Club. He remained a member of the club his entire life. Jim’s love for the outdoors drew him back to the Upper Peninsula, settling in Gould City. He started his own construction company, Jim Rourke Custom Builder, Inc. He took great pride in the many custom homes that he built and many happy customers became life long friends. Jim loved all of the seasons of Michigan. He loved snowmobiling, fishing and boating on the lake, but come fall Jim’s love of hunting was very apparent. He also enjoyed many hunting trips out west. Jim will be dearly missed by his entire family. Jim is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cherrell Rourke, son James Rourke Jr., grandson Brenin Rourke, one sister Susan (Chuck) Tedford, Cousins Kathy Orofino & Patti Muir, Step Children John & Cathey Hartwig, Ken (Lisa) Hartwig, Michele (Shannon) Packan, Steven (Lynette) Hartwig, step daughter-in-law, Melissa Hartwig and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jim was predeceased by a son Steven Rourke and a stepson Robert Hartwig. A memorial service shall take place at a later date in the Upper Peninsula.
