James Robert Kenyon's Obituary
James Robert Kenyon of Cottrellville passed away on July 13, 2026, at the age of 91. He was born on November 28, 1934, in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late Kenneth and Autumn Kenyon.
A true jack of all trades, he seemed to master anything he set his mind to. Jim was simply great at everything he did. He had a lifelong passion for antique automobiles, especially models from the 1920s through the 1950s. A gifted carpenter and mechanic, Jim was always willing to lend a hand, whether repairing a vehicle, fixing something around the house, or helping someone in need. He also loved baseball, playing well into his 80s and of course cheering on the Detroit Tigers. Jim also enjoyed spending time on his boat and traveling with his family. Above all, Jim's greatest loves were his family and his faith in God. Spending time with those he loved brought him his greatest joy.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Cheri Newman; his children, Ric (Linda) Kenyon, Jerry (Rose) Kenyon, Cindy (Paul) Leeper, Jim (Joanna) Kenyon, Lisa (Shannon) Newman, and Stephanie (Kim) Harris-Newman; his grandchildren, Adam (Stacy), Sean (Jaimi), Ryan (Jenny), Autumn (Robbie), Brandon (Audrey), Trevor (Elise), Harper, and Ethan; his great-grandchildren, Alex, Parker, Peyton, Mariana, and Penelope; and his sisters, Mildred and Juanita.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Autumn Kenyon; and his sisters, Betty, Kay, and Pat.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 19, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 4061 St. Clair Highway, East China.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 415 N. 9th Street, St. Clair, with visitation at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m.
A committal service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Resurrection Cemetery, 18201 Clinton River Road, Clinton Township.
