Jim Diebold of Fort Gratiot (formerly of St. Clair) died on June 24, 2024 at his Fort Gratiot home at the age of 88 years. Jim was born February 12, 1936 in Detroit. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 38 years, Ruthann – “A bett Read Obituary
For years, Jim and Ruthann would come to have dinner and hear me play piano on their date night every week. I would always play “You are so Beautiful” for them because they told me it was their wedding song. Jim’s jokes were always fun to hear, and he was always so happy and excited about life…. His life with Ruthann. What a wonderful individual! I will miss him dearly.
Although I did not know Jim well, I appreciated and respected what he did when he came to St. Mary's in St. Clair. This man was not only generous but was firmly grounded in his Catholic faith. Thank you for all you did for the community of St. Mary's. May you rest in peace in the arms of your beloved Father.

I had the great pleasure of working for and with Jim for several years at EDS back in the 80's and 90's. He was an amazing and one of a kind individual whom I consider one of the best mentors I've ever had, both professionally and personally. I will miss seeing him at our informal gatherings, and listening to his never ending supply of jokes and humor. My deepest condolences to his wife and family.
Jim Diebold was a friend and a mentor. He was not a perfect man, but he was a man of integrity and character. He knew his priorities and had them in order, namely, faith family and friends. He loved God, Ruthann and his whole family, everyone of them. God's speed to you Jim, you are home now.
