James Donald Hill (Don) Jr.'s Obituary
James Donald Hill (Don) Jr., age 87, went home to be with the Lord on September 21, 2025. He was born in Cottrellville Twp., March 11, 1938 to the late James and Gladys Hill (Keck)
Don married Margaret Salisbury on February 14, 1959. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Margaret Hill; sons, James (Veronica) Hill, Stephen (DJ) Hill; grandchildren, Jeffrey Hill, Jayson Hill, Kristina (Ryan) Kaufman, Cassie Thomson; great grandchildren, Colton Kaufman, Wesson Kaufman, Archer Thomson and Poppy Thomson; siblings, Sandy Holladay, Mary Lou Gramer, Sally (Gerald) Vogel, Carol (Vernon) Harris, Dean (Drema) Hill, Dennis Hill, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his in-laws, Donald Gramer, Betty Holladay, Joe Holladay, Rose Hill.
Don was a life long member of Fellowship Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and head usher for many years. He was concerned with those he knew and spent time in prayer for them and their needs. Don will be missed by all those who knew him.
In his early life, Don was a truck driver, picking up milk cans as well as delivering them to Detroit Dairies. In 1969, he was the proud owner of Hills Service Center until 1988. The business was bought by his sons, who continued to successfully own and operate for 37 years. Don returned to his first love of driving truck, finally retiring at the age of 82.
A memorial visitation will take place on Friday, September 26th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at L.C. Friederichs and Son Funeral Home, St. Clair. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, September 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church. Private interment at a later date.
