James A. "Jim" Freeland's Obituary
James A. "Jim" Freeland, age 68. of China Twp., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 4, 1957 in St. Clair to the late Clifford and Alberta Freeland.
He married Nancy Brinker on August 3, 1979 in St. Clair. She preceded him in death on November 26, 2021.
He retired from the St. Clair County Road Commission in 2010 after over 27 years of service. After work you could find Jim working on cars in his pole barn. He also helped build many pole barns in the area. He was a jack of all trades and willing to always help his family and friends.
His favorite past time was spent out on the golf course. He also enjoyed spending time at the family's cabin up north. Most of all he cherished his time spent with his kids and grandkids.
He is survived by his children; Jimmy Freeland (Emily Askew), Jessica (Steve) Schroeder, Jennifer (Duran) Moran, Joshua Freeland and Julie Freeland.
He is also survived by his grandchildren; Briley, Brayden, Walker, Weston, Michael, Cameron, Carson, and Audrey, his sister; Penny Malcolm, brother in-law; Ed Stoutenburg, sister in-law; Lori Freeland, brothers in-law; Michael (Ida) Brinker, Kevin Brinker and sister in-law; Mary (Eugene) Mayhew, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandson; James Albert Freeland III, siblings; Judy Stoutenburg, Ann (Don) Whittaker, Cliff Freeland, Ross Freeland and brother in-law; Richard Malcolm.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19 at Young Funeral Home, China Twp.
Visiting hours will be Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to the service.
