Mr. James "Red" Fraser's Obituary
James “Red” Fraser, age 91, of Avoca, died at home with his family at his side on June 11, 2014. He was born May 9, 1923 in St. Clair to the late Lewis and Margaret Fraser. Red was a highly decorated veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army.
On October 21, 1950 he married Deloris Jackson, she preceded him in death on April 21, 2014. Red was a police officer for the City of St. Clair from 1959 to 1988, retiring with the rank of Sergeant. He was also a Juvenile Officer for 25 of those years. Following his retirement he continued to serve his community with the St. Clair Special Police and as a founding member of the St. Clair County Sheriff Posse. Red was also a Honorary Member Deputy Sheriff and 4-H Leader for many years in leather craft. He was inducted into the St. Clair Sports Hall of Fame and played semi-pro football.
He was very proud of his World Champion Appaloosa’s. He greatly enjoyed the time he shared with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
He is survived by his children; James R. Adams, Darlene Adams and Deborah (Terry) Voyce, 5 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren and special great granddaughter Desiree “Nurse”.
He was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother, daughter in law, Susan Adams, great great granddaughter, Haylee Nicole Harshman and great great grandson Jarrin Blaise Eggleston.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday June 16th at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair. Visiting hours are Saturday and Sunday June 14th & 15th 2:00 to 8:00 p.m.
