James R. Frantz's Obituary
James R. Frantz, age 83, of East China, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on September 17, 2021. He was born February 7, 1938 to the late Arcola and Theola Frantz. James grew up in Algonac, graduating from Algonac High School in 1957. After high school, he went on to Western Michigan University for 2 years. Following college, James worked as a mechanical engineer for 35 years. After retirement, James owned and operated Frantz Home Design for 10 years. James married Marilyn Jones on June 13, 1959. James served at an elder at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Clair and was an active member for over 40 years. In his spare time, he would enjoy golfing, playing cards; especially euchre and penuckle. He loved watching sports, especially the Detroit Tigers. Above all, James cherished going to all of his grandchildren’s sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marilyn; children, Stephen (Brenda) Frantz, Timothy (Lisa) Frantz; grandchildren, Amanda, Blake (Angela), Joel (Heather), Joshua, Keagan; twin great-granddaughters, Lily and Sophie; sisters, Nancy (Larry) Fortune, Sandra (Bernard) Beier, as well as several special family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his sons, Michael Frantz and Jeffrey Frantz.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Clair. Visiting hours will be Monday, September 20th from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. As well as one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday.
