James G. Clary's Obituary
Jim Clary, 78, husband, father and dear friend to all who knew him, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2018 at his home in St. Clair, Michigan, after a brief battle with cancer.
Jim was born in 1939 in Burlington, Iowa, and lived there until moving to Detroit and then Richmond, Michigan, where he graduated from high school in 1957 from St. Augustine Catholic school. He returned to Michigan to begin his professional career after retiring from the US Air Force as a staff sergeant.
He is survived by his beloved wife Ann, their children Pam Malane (Mike), Todd (Jane), James, Robin Slayton; grandchildren Jameston, Taylor, Travis, August, Alex, and Emma; great-grandchildren, Avorianna, Alani, Liam, many nieces and nephews, and his sister Rosemary.
He is preceded in death by his son Donald (2014), his parents Donald and Francis Clary, his sister Martha, and brothers Benjamin and Jerome.
His artistic talent was rivaled only by his curiosity and keen ability to excavate hidden gems and forgotten information overlooked by the casual explorer. His attention to detail blended seamlessly with his painting and became a distinguishing feature in a lifetime of art work adorning walls in private homes, places of business, and freighters plying the Great Lakes to this day.
Viewings will be held at Young Funeral Home, 4061 St. Clair Highway, on Saturday, April 7th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, and Sunday, April 8th from 2:00 to 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ray Township on Monday, April 9th at 10:00 am. Burial service will be held Rosehill Cemetery in East China Township.
We will always carry his love, his smile, his eternally positive attitude, and his unwavering faith in God in our hearts. To leave a message of comfort please visit www.youngcolonial.com
