James R. Baars' Obituary
James R. Baars, age 87, of St. Clair, died June 8, 2016. He was born to the late Roy and Jennie Baars on March 14, 1929 in Casco Twp.
Jim married Ruth Purkiss June 24, 1950 in Griswold Street Baptist Church, Port Huron. Jim served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon returning from the service he worked for the Detroit Edison, St. Clair Power Plant for 35 years retiring in 1988. He enjoyed playing golf, travel, gardening and playing with his dog “Lady”.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Ruth, two sons Robert and John, six granddaughters, one grandson and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter Lynn and brother Vern.
Funeral service will be Saturday June 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to service. Memorials may be made to Columbus Bible Church, 1770 Palms Rd. Columbus, MI 48063.
