Mrs. Ivah Mae Simons' Obituary
Ivah Mae Simons, age 86, of Marine City, died May 9, 2015. She was born December 30, 1928 in Marine City to the late Harry and Mary Conlin. Ivah married Maitland Simons on October 18, 1947 in Marine City. He preceded her in death in 2003.
Ivah retired from River District Hospital following 19 years of service. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, where she also part of the funeral luncheon committee. Ivah was the secretary/treasurer of the Marine City Senior Card Club, worked as a Marine City election official, assisted with Blue Water Hospice and was an active member of the Marine City Old Newsboys. Ivah also enjoyed bowling and bowled with the same four teammates for over 45 years.
She is survived by her children; Larry (Judy) Simons, Saundra (Don) Heise, Peggy (Don) Parcell and William (Cathy) Simons, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, many close family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Evans.
Funeral mass will be Tuesday May 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, OLR Parish, Marine City. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery, East China Twp. Visiting hours are Monday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Tuesday 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to mass. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
