Hilda-Anne Menzies' Obituary
Hilda-Anne Menzies of China, Michigan peacefully passed away on March 31st, 2023, with her two youngest children by her side. Hilda was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 7th, 1933, to George and Hilda Georgeson.
The family would later move to Gaylord where Hilda attended Gaylord High School and met Robert Menzies. They would later marry and move to Mt. Clemens to raise their family. Robert preceded her in death in March of 2013.
Hilda is survived by her 4 children, Rosanne Schroder (Steve), Robert Menzies (Marj), Marguerite Attebury and Keith Menzies (Kelly). Hilda was blessed with 13 Grandchildren: Erin, Nathan, Corrie, Mathew, Brian, Kevin, Christopher, Krista, Kelly, Collean, Sean, Gavin and Alex. 13 Great-grandchildren: Elijah, Jonah, Simon, Devon, Marcus, Evey, Malena, Oliver, Fiona, Owen, Zane, Eleanor and Harrison.
Bob and Hilda bought a farm and moved to St. Clair, Michigan where they established the Menzies American Saddlebred Farm. Bob ran his business in Muttonville while Hilda did what she loved, which was raising, breeding, foaling and showing her horses. Being an accomplished horsewoman, she soon had 2 World Champion Golden American Saddlebred Stallions, whose offspring are known nationwide and around the globe. She had a love for animals especially her whippets and PeeWee the little runt piglet she saved. She shared this love with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be heartbreakingly missed by her family and friends.
